COLLECTABLE Carl Zeiss Jena, Asembi 20-40x80 with the original wooden tripod and case. Rare and impressive high quality binoculars. The Asembi means the ZEISS top quality product! The very first of them were manufactured at the beginning of World War I. Imperial Navy was equipped with its military variant during WW I and between interwar time, as well as Kriegsmarine at WW II. Civilian models were used as at the mountains and at the seaside as well. Military version used as border guard binoculars during the Cold War. Asembi construction has been changed at East Germany. It was manufactured there for military purposes, having the 20-40 zoom eyepieces which allows to have 20 x and 40 x magnification with 80 mm of aperture. The Zeiss Asembi is listed at Astro Calalog 94 of 1936 as a telescope and refers specifically to the excellent properties for astronomical admiring of the night starry sky. The magnification 40 x and 80 mm aperture allow to observe rings of Saturn and split many tight double stars. It is an excellent performer as for terrestrial as well as for celestial observations. As you can see on the pictures. There is some minor signs of wear tear. However it is in a great cosmetic condition for its age. The prisms, optical glass are clean with no defects and well aligned/collimated. They come with two yellow filters.

Both as the binoculars as well as the tripod are in fully working order. The mount is smooth and easy to use. The leather straps require attention though as having some signs of wear and tear.
