Antique vintage Carl Zeiss Jena Galan binoculars

Rare Vintage German Carl Zeiss Jena Galan 2.5 X Binoculars, Case & Leaflet 1924 to 1934. Carl Zeiss AG, is a German optical systems company founded in Germany in 1846 by Carl Zeiss.

Carl Zeiss is one of the oldest existing and most respected, optics manufacturers in the world. The third theatre binocular produced by Zeiss was the "Galan" built from 1924 to 1934. In 1924, with the purpose of making a theatre binocular that was affordable for a wider group of people.

Zeiss began producing an inexpensive binocular with simplified optical and mechanical design. It was therefore a Galilean binocular with central adjustment (Mitteltrieb) and without the inter-pupillary distance adjustment.

Its characteristics were optimal for a binocular to use at the Opera. With its brightness, 2 1/2 magnification. Tare to the carry case as seen in photos.
