A very rare old pair of Carl Zeiss D. P Jagdglas Vergr x5 binoculars. These binoculars were made in the late 19th century or at the turn of the century and are the rare sloping shoulders design. These glasses have been professionally cleaned, restored and conserved. There is some historical fungal damage to the prisms along with some imperfections common in early types of optical glass - this looks like dirt but it isnt and is not visible when the binoculars are in use. Considering their age, these binoculars are in very good physical condition. There are signs of wear on the black lacquer and the brass underneath is showing through in places but this is to be expected and doesnt detract from the piece at all. The leather is in good order with no rips or tears.
Please see photos for more details about the condition. Please note that although the original leather strap remains, it is too perished to be used safely. Dimensions: 18cm wide, 14cm deep and 2.5cm high approximately.
